MiniFS is a prototype of an airplanes and helicopters flight simulator which targets Virtual Reality headsets. The initial prototype is targeting the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, other platforms/headsets are coming later, thanks to OpenXR. Even if it works on flat screens, keep in mind that it’s VR first. There are many important features required by an aircraft simulator. Here is a list of what is important to me:
- Good and realistic physics
- Maps generated using real world data from 50x50km to 200x200km
- Good cockpit integration: Instruments, switches, light indicators
- Cockpit interactions using hands/controllers
- Control stick/wheel using controllers/hands
- Weather system and Day/Night cycle
