Infinite Flight is a flight simulator for iOS and Android whose history began in 2011. It lets people fly anywhere in the world with detailed aircraft, airports and realistic weather conditions, from a phone or tablet.
Its Live mode brings pilots and human air traffic controllers together on multiplayer servers. Flight procedures and communication with air traffic control make aviation practice and the community central to the experience.
My role on the team
Since June 2026, I have been working as a Senior Software Engineer on the proprietary C# engine. My work focuses on low-level graphics features and adapting them to the constraints of mobile devices.
I have worked on aircraft contrail rendering, bloom implementation and a quality settings system. These settings help adapt the rendering to devices with widely varying capabilities.
Visual quality and performance
The engagement includes targeted Android optimisations in components that directly affect performance. The challenge is to support the simulator’s graphical development while accounting for less powerful devices.
I also contribute to research and development work for future engine improvements.
