A lit architectural scene in the C3DE engine.

C3DE, short for Cool 3D Engine, is a 3D game engine written in C#. It relies on a personal fork of MonoGame so that the engine and its rendering paths can evolve together.

I started developing it in 2015. It continues my work with MonoGame, which I have pursued alongside using Unity since 2013.

Controlling the graphics foundation

The fork adds a Metal backend, an OpenGL 4 path and fixes for Vulkan. This work makes it possible to address platform-specific behaviour directly in the graphics layer used by the engine.

The project includes several build targets, including desktop, Android and iOS. Their status and hardware validation results are tracked in the repository documentation.

From engine to creation tools

C3DE provides a component model, scene management, physics through Jitter2, a runtime user interface and content processing. An optional Unity exporter also helps prepare data.

This project brings together my work on C# engines, graphics libraries and production tools. Development continues, with explicit tracking of experimental features and areas that still need validation.
