C3DE RPG 2D is a role-playing game creation tool inspired by RPG Maker. I developed it primarily for my children, who are also its first testers. The idea is to offer a simpler experience, designed for tablets while remaining usable on a computer.
Starting with how it will be used
User experience is central to the project. The tools should help people build a game without having to master a general-purpose engine. Creating on a touchscreen shapes the layout of the interface and the way elements are manipulated on a map.
An engine that became independent
The first version used C# and my C3DE engine. The current version runs on an independent C++ engine with SDL3, SDL_GPU and Dear ImGui.
This change makes it possible to work on a coherent system, from engine to editor, while keeping the same goal: making RPG creation accessible across different devices. The engine and editor have separate repositories.
